DWMA VOL. I

Decibels Without Mixed/Mastered Audio (DWMA Vol. I) is my debut music project.

I consider to be a living, evolving body of work that is inspired by my love for anime and artist-growth. The name is a nod to Atsushi Ohkubo’s ‘Soul Eeater’, in which the institution “Death Weapon Meister Academy (DWMA)” appears.

Prior to the ‘concept’ of this project, I envisioned pushing out a complete, polished project with a traditional rollout. As time passed, I abandoned that idea; instead choosing to perform a rollout that was raw and reflective as the project itself.

As aforementioned, DWMA is an evolving; and it is far from perfect, much less finished. As one may assume from the name; these tracks are; raw, unmixed, and unmastered. Nevertheless, they represent where my skill-level is.

With social media, artists feel compelled to release fully polished, ‘flawless’ work to make it through the ocean of algorithmic curated perfection. With DWMA, I seek to reject this ideology. Growth is not linear—and art needn’t to arrive in a polished package with a bowtie to be worthy of attention.

Like the games we play, the apps we download, and the repositories we clone, art can—and should transform over time.

So welcome to my imperfection, as I invite you to witness my growth. It is going to be messy, and unapologetically me. I hope to fail hard and fail fast—Catch y’all at the finish line.

DWMA Vol. I is out now. You can find the link in the bio or search “DWMA Aireus” wherever music is available.
